The Challenge

The Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) is a government agency responsible for overseeing standardization activities and fostering the development of Saudi Standards. In 2019, Tarshid granted Enova the inaugural retrofit contract within Saudi Arabia, encompassing 10 buildings at SASO's Riyadh complex. Enova successfully executed a forward-thinking array of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) in 2020.

Enova’s Solution

To ensure the delivery of the 43% Guaranteed Savings,  Enova implemented a series of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) - prioritizing the optimization of cooling systems. This included the implementation of a new Building and Chiller Management System, the replacement of oversized chilled water pumps, and the installation of variable frequency drivers and energy-efficient belts on AHUs.

Following the implementation program, the measurement and verification began to collect and analyze the data through Enova’s Hubgrade Smart Monitoring Centre to track and report on the resulting savings.

Benefits

As part of its dedication to ensuring the well-being of end-users, Enova prioritized enhancing the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) by optimizing air quality and thermal comfort. This achievement was made possible through the implementation of cutting-edge IoT technologies and smart solutions, a milestone for Energy Performance Contracts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The collective energy conservation measures have resulted in a substantial reduction of 7,280 tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions generated by nearly 1,600 passenger vehicles driven for an entire year. This accomplishment has not only delivered guaranteed financial savings to SASO but also contributed significantly to environmental preservation and meeting the Kingdom’s ambitious sustainability goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.

“From auditing and analyzing each of our facilities to deploying the latest technology that enables us to reduce energy consumption and related costs through our engagement with Enova, we are determined to put sustainable practices at the heart of TARSHID’s growth trajectory.”
